Meet the Team

Hugh Grover

I was born in Islington and have mainly lived here all my life.  I really enjoy the mixed community that Highbury and Islington offers residents.  I set up Hugh Grover Associates in 1993 after previously working for independent estate agencies since 1986.  Over the years I have been involved with lots of community events and local committees including the Islington International Festival, and the Chamber of Commerce.  Ted, my dog, and I are often seen walking the streets and people seem to know him better than they know me!!  I enjoy the gym and swimming and have always been a lifetime supporter of Arsenal.

Senior Sales Negotiator

I have worked in the Estate Agency business since I left school, having originally started work in Kings Cross and then moving to Upper Street in the mid-70’s.  I met Hugh in 1986 when we both worked together at another local independent agent and I joined Hugh Grover Associates in 1993.  I have enjoyed matching thousands of people with their ideal homes.  I was born in Hackney and lived there until I was 7 and then moved to Islington.  Back in the 1960’s it was very much an area with local people who had lived in the area for generations.  Over the last 20 years it has become much more gentrified with many young professional people moving in due to the proximity to the City and its very varied and interesting architecture.  I met my wife, Helena, believe it or not, at Woburn Safari Park back in 1985 and we were married in 1988 and have a son and daughter who are now 27 & 22.  We enjoy going out for long walks, weekends away in this Country and holidays abroad.  I do hold the world record for eating the most cheese sandwiches throughout my working life which I believe is well in excess of 10,000!!

Sales Negotiator

Originally from Leicestershire, I have lived in North London for over 25 years and have enjoyed working with the tightly-knit team at Hugh Grover Associates for 11 years.  I am a father to four children and in my (limited!) spare time I enjoy photography, motor-sport, football and pottering about at our allotment with the kids.

Sales Negotiator

Originally from the countryside in the West Midlands, it was quite a shock to adjust to London life at first!  I moved to London in 2013, and quite soon afterwards I was introduced to Hugh.  After starting at the company, it became quite obvious how close the team are, which luckily I slotted into very quickly!  I thoroughly enjoy working here and feel great pleasure handing the keys over to someone who has just made quite possibly the biggest purchase of their lives.  In my spare time I enjoy practising and teaching my Martial Arts training, of which I started studying at the age of 7.  It is a lifelong dream of mine to travel to Japan and train with our Grand Master – something which I hope to do in the very near future.  I regularly make the journey home to visit friends and family.  I also regularly take our office mascot Ted with me for a little holiday too!

Ted Grover

The Boss!

Ted is part of our meet and greet team and understandably receives the most attention out of all of us!  He is often seen relaxing in the office or out on his daily walks with his walker Alfie, along with all of his four legged friends.  We asked Ted for a comment.  He said Woof.
